Robert Arrested by FBI

Filed under: News — Jeff @ 11:28 pm

Around 6 AM on June 6th, Robert Moore was raided by around 14 FBI agents. Among those FBI agents was one of the top cyber-crime investigators Frank Harril. After showing their warrant to search his house, they immediately went into the room which was shown on his website, the basement. Filled with over 11 computers, and various electronics. Obviously cooperating with the FBI, Robert told them everything they wanted to hear.

Robert had helped a man by the name of Edwin Pena hack into several thousands of Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol (VOIP) servers in order to steal minutes and route those minutes through rogue soft-switches, ranging from Cisco, Quintum, and various other boxes. They stole over 1 million dollars in connection fees. While not just hacking into the machines, Robert also was designing malicious, never seen before software for the H323 compromising.

The feds compromised 8 computers, 3 external hard drives, a 300GB modded XBOX, 2 Toshiba PDAs, old papers from 1995/1997 ranging from programming guides to even ICQ contacts, and to top it off his used once 60GB Video IPOD.

After going to federal court that same day, they allowed Robert to go home to await his trial dates and sentencing. Edwin Pena however, was taken to jail because he posed a possible flight risk.  At the current state, Robert is looking at a possible 5 years prison, and $250,000.00 fines.
